In 1977 a group of women by the names of Ruth Kern, Iris Burnham, Nancy Kohutek, Carol Welch, and Nancy Neuman incorporated a non-profit organization to be known as El Paso’s Shelter for Battered Women. Forty-five years later, now known as the Center Against Sexual and Family Violence, our services have expanded from not only a hotline and a shelter, but now include a family resource center, sexual assault services, therapy services, children’s services, a transitional living center, prevention and intervention programs, and community outreach.
The Puro Empower fundraiser invites community members to raise critically-needed funds to support CASFV’s mission to empower survivors of violence. Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, CASFV’s clients have become more vulnerable to victimization, food insecurity, job loss, and homelessness. This fundraiser will ensure that victims in need have access to a safe shelter, caring advocates, and comprehensive support services.
Join us as we celebrate the impact CASFV has had on survivors of sexual and family violence for the past 45 years.
