The Center Against Sexual and Family Violence (CASFV) is hosting its annual Puro Empower fundraising event on Thursday, August 22, 2024, at the Painted Dunes Desert Golf Course in El Paso, Texas. This event is a crucial fundraiser that allows us to continue providing vital services to survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence in our community.

This year, we are honored to recognize Dr. Guillermina R. Solis and the outstanding work she and the UTEP’s Nursing Program students have accomplished. Their dedication to providing wellness checkups and screenings to families residing in our shelters has profoundly impacted their well-being.

Program details over the years:

• Service Started September 2011
• Total patients served: 1,258

Volunteers:

• Nursing Students: over 250 students
• Nurse Practitioners: 30
• Community RNs: 10
• Medical Students: 10 (from 2017-2020)

Expansion of Services:

• Adult Health Screenings- Initiated July 2022: Blood Pressure and Glucose Started
• Clothing Corner- Initiated 2023: Gently worn clothes made available to all shelter residents.
